BEAT IT LIKE YOU MEAN IT: D99 STUDENTS MARCH TO THE BEAT OF THEIR OWN DRUM AT SUMMER DRUMLINE & PERCUSSION CAMP 🥁🎶

Posted Date: 7/11/25 (4:30 PM)

Incoming students for grades 5, 6 and 7 who are rhythmically minded had the opportunity to join District 99's two-week Drumline and Percussion Camp this month, learning the ins and outs of percussion and focusing on everything from technique, performance and musicality to discovering proper drum setup, tempo control and playing various genres.

For two weeks, from June 30 through July 11, students attended the camp held at Unity Junior High School, soaking in music theory and building new musical friendships as they prepare for a new school year ahead filled with music leadership and support of their peers in their school bands.

For the past several years, District 99's Drumline and drummers in school bands have sharpened their skills behind the sticks, helping fellow musicians and audience members alike keep tempo and enjoy the rhythmic beats that concert and performance band music provides!
